BEATRICE – Election filings for county board, school district and city council positions have come in over the past few days, as the filing deadline for incumbents approaches next week.

Beatrice City Council Third Ward incumbent Rich Kerr has filed with the Gage County Clerk’s Office, seeking another four-year term.

Gage County Board member Don Schuller, of rural Wymore, has also filed for reelection in this year’s voting.  The Democrat represents District Six on the county board.

The Beatrice District 15 Board of Education has picked up a new candidate.  Marissa Centeno filed for this year’s election, seeking a term on the school board.

A member of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents from the local area is also running for reelection.

Beatrice attorney Rob Schafer has won election to the board twice, since initially being appointed to the Regents by Governor Dave Heineman in 2013.  His District 5 position includes eleven counties and parts of two others in southeast Nebraska.
