ALEXANDRIA, Neb -- Around 60 Veterans and community members showed up to show their respects at the funeral of a Korean War Veteran without any surviving friends or family.

Robert W. Minto passed away on January 10th at the age of 86 in Beatrice.  After learning that Minto, an Air Force Veteran, who served in the Korean War, would depart with few by his side, the Fairbury VFW put out a call on Facebook inviting people to attend.

The post called to veterans, service members, and the community to ensure Robert was not alone on his final journey, embodying our nation's pledge that no hero is left behind or forgotten.

The ceremony was held Monday at Alexandria Catholic Cemetery with Father John Birkel officiating.
