MARYSVILLE, Kan. -- The Marshall County Arts Cooperative hosted a successful local arts exhibit in Marysville during the month of January.

According to Wayne Kruse, President of the Marshall County Arts Cooperative, close to 20 people had items to exhibit and over 250 people walked through the exhibit to see the art.

The exhibit was successful in showing residents the wide scale of hidden artistic talent in Marshall County.

“So, the feedback that we got was really interesting because people kept saying ‘Oh my gosh, we didn’t know there was so much talent in our area'," Kruse said. "Because the whole concept behind this exhibit was to showcase local artisans whether they were using fabrics or they were doing crafts."

The residents that viewed the exhibit even bought some of the art that was on sale as well.

“Everyone who had things for sale sold something. Robert Kloppenborg with all of his wooden bowls. He even had some wooden urns. Someone came in to buy a wooden urn," said Kruse. "Karla and Nancy had all of those plush Valentine's Day decorations and with Valentine's Day coming up, I noticed they sold a lot of hearts.”

Despite being closed some days due to weather, the exhibit was a huge success and has residents wondering if there can be another exhibit to display local art like this one.

“Well, the great thing is, sometimes the best things we do are things that people bring to us," Kruse said. "To say ‘Hey, we saw this. Can we do this?’ So, an easy way to get a hold of us is to go to our website, Marshallcountyarts.org and you can fill out the form to contact us and say, ‘Hey, would you consider.’ or ‘Hey, have you thought about?’."

Kruse said the Arts Cooperative is discussing the possibility of other events like this throughout the year.
