Five children, cat evacuated from central Lincoln home after basement fire

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Fire and Rescue was at the scene of a home fire in central Lincoln Friday morning.

Crews arrived at a home near the intersection of M and South 38th Streets just before 8 a.m. and saw flames coming from the basement. The fire was quickly put out.

LFR said five children and a cat were evacuated from the home. No injuries were reported.

A fire inspector determined the fire was caused by a child playing with fire.

Damages from the fire were estimated at $75,000, according to LFR.
