BEATRICE – Gage County Board Chairman Erich Tiemann was unanimously reelected to head the supervisors, for 2024. The Republican was chosen during the board’s annual reorganization meeting, on Wednesday.

There were two nominees for the Vice-Chairmanship of the supervisors. Emily Haxby, in a 5-2 vote, won that position over Supervisor Gary Lytle.

Both top officers received praise from colleagues for handling very important issues and going above and beyond what’s required, for the county. Tiemann says all members of the supervisors contribute to getting things done.

During the reorganization meeting, county officials approved a list of area banks to hold county funds and designated the Beatrice Daily Sun as the county’s official newspaper for legal publications and notices.

The county board voted to approve a quote from Blue Valley Public Safety, Inc, for an outdoor warning siren to be placed at the north edge of Beatrice, just east of U.S. Highway 77. That’s expected to improve warning coverage for the Beatrice Community Hospital area and surrounding businesses.

County supervisors will also review bids for two motor graders and for fuel supplies, on February 7th.
