OMAHA, Neb, -- Two women were injured and a man died during a shooting in Douglas County.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said officers were sent to the 11100 block of Black St. around 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday for a report of a shooting.
Officials said the call stated that someone was bleeding inside the home and that the father had a gun.
According to authorities, 51-year-old Edmond Sagitteh had a handgun and shot a 19-year-old woman while she was in bed in the basement. The 19-year-old was reportedly able to get upstairs and hid in a bedroom with her 46-year-old mother and two 15-year-old sisters.
Police said Sagitteh tried to get into the room by shooting two rounds through the door. The mother was reportedly shot in the hand during this time and the four women went into the bathroom.
Reports state that two more rounds were shot through the bathroom door before Sagitteh stuck the barrel through one of the holes in the door.
Police were called at this time and Sagitteh reportedly went back into the basement where he died by apparent suicide.
According to authorities, the 19-year-old and 46-year-old were taken to the hospital for their injuries. The 19-year-old was reportedly last known to be in surgery for the gunshot wound to her torso. Neither of the 15-year-olds were injured.
