FAIRBURY, Neb. -- Traffic was closed to one lane on K St. Thursday after a vehicle went off the road and hit an electrical pole, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
A Ford F350 was traveling northbound on K St., approaching 22nd and K St., where he drove off the road on the right side and continued northbound before hitting a city of Fairbury electrical pole that was on the property of 2118 K St.
The driver stated he was traveling northbound when a vehicle ahead stopped to turn left onto 22nd St. Due to two cars being behind him, oncoming traffic in the left lane and not having enough time to stop, the vehicle went off road to the right where he hit the electrical pole due to snow and deteriorating traction off road.
Traffic was stopped for a short period of time due to a low hanging power line and was down to one lane for 45 minutes while utilities employees worked on the damaged pole.
The city of Fairbury electrical foreman said there was also damage to a phone and cable owned by Windstream and Spectrum.
