TC Energy and Jefferson County agree on costs for road repair near Steele City

TC Energy and Jefferson County have made an agreement for the repair, improvement and replacement of a 1.25 mile stretch near the Kansas and Nebraska state line and Ida Avenue, near Steele City, Nebraska.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Neb. -- TC Energy and Jefferson County have made an agreement for the repair, improvement and replacement of a 1.25 mile stretch near the Kansas and Nebraska state line and Ida Avenue, near Steele City, Nebraska. 

TC Energy has offered to provide repairs/replacement to ensure that the road in in a condition that would allow for regular and reoccurring vehicular traffic.

Drivers on the road are met with several bumps, potholes and loose asphalt.

Representatives met about the situation back in March with most recent discussions occurring in late November. 

TC and Jefferson County agreed that the maximum cost of the necessary repairs of the road would be $3,344,802. 

TC Energy and the County will solicit bids for the work in good faith through the County’s bidding process. The County will select its desired bid, The Final Bid, by Jan. 23, 2024. Within 30 days of that date, TC Energy will pay Jefferson County the cost of engineering $350,000 along with the Final Bid. 

Work on the road should begin in the spring.
