LINCOLN, Neb. -- A Lincoln Police officer is being recognized for his efforts in saving a woman from the water in Holmes Lake.
The Lincoln Police Department said that Officer Pierce Krouse rescued a woman from Holmes Lake Sunday night.
It was reported that there were multiple 911 calls about a woman screaming for help and drowning around 6:15 p.m.
Officers were able to find her in the water.
LPD said she was about 25 to 30 yards from the shore, along the north side of the lake, holding onto a flipped kayak.
Krouse reportedly took off his duty gear and jumped into the water and swam out to the woman. He helped get her and the boat to shore.
The woman is reported to be okay. Krouse was checked at the hospital before changing into a dry uniform and returning to his work shift.
