Main Street Beatrice's Night of the Great Pumpkin....a hit with crowd
Barricades and cones gone.....the weather holds out
BEATRICE – With the successful closing of water main replacement in downtown Beatrice, more than a thousand kids, parents and grandparents got to enjoy a traditional event Thursday….the Main Street Beatrice “Night of the Great Pumpkin”…along Court Street.
"We're very thankful that the barricades are gone and that the sun came out tonight....so I'm really excited to see a lot of families downtown."
Kids come downtown in their costumes to trick or treat…candy provided by local businesses….and to take home a free pumpkin. It seems the adults really get into it as well, with business employees donning costumes in the spirit of the event.
"I love seeing all the parents getting dressed up and bringing their entire families down. We see aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents...everyone is down here."
The City of Beatrice had police vehicles, fire trucks and construction vehicles to get an up-close look at….as department members handed out candy. Kids could get a pass for a free movie at the local theatre.
Main Street Executive Director Morgan Fox says the business area seems ready for the holiday shopping season as people continue to spend… with events like Small Business Saturday, and the Thanksgiving time start of what’s a critical part of the year for retailers.
