FAIRBURY, Neb -- The Runza restaurant in Fairbury is closed due to remodeling.

It is updating almost everything in the restaurant, from adding more seating, to more air conditioning and even remodeling the tile on the floors.

“We’ve been planning for about a year and a half now; and then McDonald's closed when we were going to originally do it,” said Ryan Rippe, the owner of the Runza in Fairbury. “So, then we put everything on hold until we were back to normal.”

Rippe said that the restaurant needs to be remodeled every 10 to 15 years. He said it hasn’t been remodeled since it opened in 2007.

Although the interior of the restaurant is closed, Runza will be opening its drive-thru as early as Tuesday.

“We’re just going to have a drive-thru system set up,” said Rippe. “Tuesday, we will be open for full drive-through - 10:30 to 9 p.m. every day.”

Rippe said they hope to be completely done with remodeling by Oct. 9.
