FAIRBURY, Neb. -- Fairbury began an eventful weekend with a cruise night in its downtown square.

Cars from as old as 1931 and as new as 2022 drove around the town square for bystanders and locals to view.

The cruise night is a preceding event to the Fairbury Car Show set for Sunday.

Craig Shumard is the owner of a 1931 Model AA Grain Truck that he received from his father in the late 80s.

Shumard has restored the car and brought it to the cruise night.

“So I purchased this car from my father back in the late 80’s,” said Shumard. “I parked it in my shed and decided to do a partial restoration and my friend came over and said, ‘you’re not going to be happy doing that.’. So I took it down to the frame, carried the frame out and took it all apart. Restored the frame, restored the box, took the body down to a restoration shop down in Wichita. Restored it, put it all back together and here it is.”

Shumard said he will bring the car to the 12th annual Fairbury Car Show.

The car show is set for Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Fairbury City Square.
