Fairbury football game pushed back one hour Thursday
Fairbury's home football opener against Tri County has been pushed back one hour due to excessive heat in the area
FAIRBURY, Neb. -- Fairbury's home football opener against Tri County has been pushed back one hour due to excessive heat in the area, according to Fairbury H.S Assistant Principal David Davis.
Fairbury is planning to move its start time from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. as a way to keep the players and fans safe during an excessive heat warning.
A heat wave is sweeping through southeast Nebraska, pushing temperatures into triple digits over the next week and making it dangerous for players and fans.
Beatrice football had its game pushed back to Friday due to the heat with other high school games being cancelled. Fairbury plans to have both teams warm up in the gym with many "official timeouts" during the game for water breaks, according to Davis.
News Channel Nebraska will keep fans updated as game day approaches for Fairbury High School.
