YORK, Neb. -- A man from Mexico was sentenced to prison after a conviction for drugs in York County.

Acting U.S. Attorney Susan Lehr said 30-year-old Jose Emmanuel Hernandez-Gomez, of Mexico, was sentenced in federal court in Omaha on Friday. He was sentenced for trafficking methamphetamine. Hernandez-Gomez will serve 135 months with a five-year term of supervised release after. There is no parole in the federal system.

According to court documents, a York County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle that had 27 pounds of meth on May 8, 2021. The meth was being delivered to an address in Omaha.

Officials said the Drug Enforcement Administration and Omaha Police Department helped take the vehicle to Omaha, and an undercover officer went to the address to deliver the meth. Hernandez-Gomez came out of the home, gave the undercover officer $6,000, and took the meth. Hernandez-Gomez was then arrested.

This case was investigated by the York County Sheriff’s Office, DEA, and the Omaha Police Department.
