Lincoln man arrested after pursuit for stolen vehicle
LINCOLN, Neb. -- After a pursuit, a Lincoln man was arrested for having a reportedly stolen vehicle.
The Nebraska State Patrol said they received information from the Seward County Sheriff’s Office about a stolen vehicle going east, towards Lincoln, on Tuesday.
Officials said a trooper found the vehicle, a Chevrolet Suburban, on Highway 6 near Emerald at 4:15 p.m. The trooper reportedly tried to do a traffic stop but the Suburban drove through a yard, then a fence, and sped off south into a cornfield.
According to authorities, the Suburban lost control half a mile later while crossing a driveway in the field. The driver reportedly fled on foot after the vehicle stopped in the field.
Troopers said an NSP K9 was brought in and found the driver hiding in hay bales. The driver was then taken into custody.
NSP said the driver was 42-year-old David Ruhl, of Lincoln, and he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. After his release from the hospital, Ruhl was lodged in Lancaster County Jail for flight to avoid arrest, obstructing a police officer, criminal mischief, and theft $5,000+, with additional charges pending in Seward County.
The investigation is ongoing.
