Beatrice Police checking suspicious vehicle, arrest driver early Sunday
Authorities find pending Saline County warrant and suspended license

BEATRICE – Beatrice Police arrested a man with a pending warrant and several past driving under suspension violations, this weekend.
Early Sunday at around 3:15 a.m., a police officer responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in an alley in the twelve-hundred block of Court Street.
The maroon sedan was partly blocking the alley. Police contacted the driver, 63-year-old Larry Alvarez to get the vehicle moved. While making a records check, the officer learned Alvarez had an active warrant pending and a suspended license.
The officer then caught up with the vehicle and driver near 15th and Summit Streets. Alvarez was arrested on the Saline County-issued bench warrant, and the vehicle was towed.
During a search of the vehicle, police found a substance that initially tested positive as methamphetamine. Authorities said Alvarez had four prior driving under suspension violations and two prior convictions. His most recent suspension was for an insurance cancellation in July of 2021…with no eligibility date listed.
Alvarez was jailed for the warrant, driving under suspended license and possession of a controlled substance.
