GAGE COUNTY - A sheriff's office in southeast Nebraska is warning citizens about a string of recent scam calls.

According to the Gage County Sheriff's Office, several citizens have called the department saying they've received phone calls from a suspect claiming to be a Gage County deputy, telling people they have a warrant.

The suspect allegedly uses the name of an on duty officer and may have background information on those they call.

The sheriff's office warns to not make any payments for any reason and to hang up and call Southeast Communications to be connected to an on duty officer.

Southeast Communications can be reached at 402-223-4080.
