BEATRICE – A turning truck that failed to yield caused an injury crash in northeast Kansas, Monday morning. The Kansas Highway Patrol investigated the wreck, one mile east of Everest, in Brown County.

Authorities say a 2006 Freightliner dump truck driven by 54-year-old John Schuetz, of Powhattan was traveling south-southwest on Kansas Highway 20 when it attempted to turn south onto Raccoon Road.

The truck struck the driver’s side of a 2004 Ford F-150 Pickup driven by 78-year-old Robert Becker, of Everest.  His pickup was traveling east-northeast on the highway.

The K-H-P says Becker suffered a suspected serious injury and was taken to the K-U Medical Center.  Schuetz had a minor injury and was taken to Amberwell Health.   The state patrol says Schuetz was using a safety restraint, but Becker was not.

Both vehicles went off the southeast side of Kansas Highway 20 and into the ditch. The collision happened at around 10:45 a.m.
