Corner Bar continues revamp, gets patio ready for summer crowds
ODELL, Neb. - A bar in Southeast Nebraska is continuing its make over entering the summer.
The Corner Bar in Odell was bought by new owners in January and since transitioned from a dive bar to a welcoming environment for people of all ages, with bar manager Nate Leach an integral part of the efforts. He says business has continued to be solid.
“Business is good,” Leach said. “We’re very fortunate. Drawing crowds from down in Kansas, Fairbury, Plymouth, Beatrice supports us quite a bit…. We’re very happy!”
When initial redecorating began, Leach worked hard to redo the bars interior, but has since taken his talents outside — His newest project, redoing the bars patio. What was once a run down back porch area, now is a colorful area with seating for people to enjoy time outside. Leach says the theme for a tiki bar type place, came from past experiences.
“I spent a lot of time sailing in the Virgin Islands, Grenadine Islands, Keys,” Leach said. “I got gravitated to places that have a nice Place to hang out and belly up to a bar.”
Changes to the patio include the redone tiki bar, new tables and chairs, and a new lighting. The goal of the patio goes beyond just a good experience for customers. Leach tells NCN the bar also hopes it helps with space, to avoid overcrowding inside.
Leach worked quickly to get the bar ready for summer for one reason only:
“Because everyone wants to be outside,” Leach said “I love my bar, I love the space I created inside, but the fact of the matter is, I want to be outdoors… And I think most others do too. The space is amazing, the breeze is amazing, we’ll have music playing. People want to be outdoors in the summertime.
