YORK COUNTY, Neb. -- Several people were injured in crash involving a school van and another vehicle in southeast Nebraska on Thursday.

The York County Sheriff's Office says seven people were sent to separate hospitals, including one person with life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened just south of I-80 near Waco. According to a press release, a McCool Junction Public Schools van was traveling eastbound when, as the van attempted to turn northbound, it was struck by another van. Authorities say the van, which was also northbound, was registered to Spee Dee Delivery Service of Omaha.

The driver of the school vehicle was taken to Bryan West in Lincoln with life-threatening injuries.

The five other occupants in the school van were taken to a York hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, as was the driver of the other vehicle.

The York County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.

McCool Junction Public Schools Superintendent Dade Palmer released a brief statement on Facebook, acknowledging that the district was aware of the accident.
