Reportedly stolen vehicle collides with light pole, catches fire in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A vehicle that was reportedly stolen was allegedly used in a hit-and-run before it collided with a light pole and caught on fire in Lincoln.
The Lincoln Police Department said officers were sent to the 1500 block of Superior St. around 11:45 p.m. on Saturday for a reported hit-and-run.
Officers said the vehicle involved was a 2017 Hyundai Sonata that was reported stolen from the Union bank on S 48th St.
According to authorities, officers were sent to the Southwest High School parking lot around 1:35 p.m. on Sunday for a reported collision.
Police said a witness reported seeing the Hyundai driving recklessly in the parking lot and hitting a light pole.
The Hyundai was reportedly found on fire in the 1100 block of Aries Dr. after a large amount of smoke was seen. The Fire Inspector said this seemed like arson.
