Powwow showcases Native American culture in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The UNITE Powwow was held in Lincoln to highlight Native American culture on Saturday.

UNITE UNL hosted their annual powwow on Saturday at the Union Green Space in Lincoln. 

The powwow is an event that focuses on Native American culture by use of traditional dance and drumming. 

There was contest dancing with categories called tiny tots, juniors, teens, adults, and golden age. 

The event began at 11:00 a.m. with registration and had the grand entry at 1:00 p.m.

Public speakers and several different activities also took place during the powwow.
