One injured in accident that briefly shuts down U.S. 77, south of Beatrice
BEATRICE – A one vehicle accident that caused minor injuries prompted a brief closure of U.S. Highway 77 overnight, just south of Beatrice.
A Gage County Sheriff’s Deputy says a northbound vehicle driven by 67-year-old John Houseman, of Beatrice went off U.S. Highway 77, through a cable guardrail. The vehicle then went into the east ditch and overturned onto its top. Houseman suffered minor injuries in the crash. There was no one else in the vehicle.
Houseman was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The deputy said the accident resulted in the highway being shut down for about thirty minutes. The accident occurred at 11:37 p.m., just north of U.S. 77 and Lilac Road.
Beatrice Fire and Rescue and Beatrice Rural Firefighters responded to the scene. A medical helicopter was summoned but waived off enroute to the scene.
