JOHNSON COUNTY - A southeast Nebraska county is releasing results to a recent campaign to curb distracted driving in the area.

In the week of April 3-9, the Johnson County Sheriff's Office performed a special mobilization enforcement as officers in Johnson County performed additional saturation patrol in efforts to curb distracted driving.

According to a release on Facebook, the sheriffs office says they didn't see many incidents during the mobilization.

"The sheriff’s office wants to thank the general public for taking the time to put the cell phone down and focus on the roadway," the office said. "Deputies did not see very many violations of this during the enforcement mobilization, and we are grateful for the motoring public in Johnson County realizing the dangers of texting while driving and making the responsible choice to focus on the road."

Three deputies participated and their results are as follows:

- 76 total contacts were made, 26 citations being issued
- 1 citation issued for unauthorized use of a communication device (texting while driving)
- 6 speeding tickets were issued
- 2 felony arrests were made
- 1 wanted fugitive from justice was apprehended
