Lincoln teen arrested in Michigan for connection to homicide investigation
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Authorities have arrested a 17-year-old and charged him as an adult for first-degree murder in connection to a homicide investigation in Lincoln.
The Lincoln Police Department said that 17-year-old Kashuan McCree of Lincoln is in custody for the homicide of 18-year-old Damien Brave.
Brave died after he was shot during a house party in Lincoln Friday, March 31.
Authorities said that investigative members with LPD and U.S. Marshals arrested McCree Thursday afternoon in Detroit Michigan without incident.
LPD said that McCree has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony.
Officials said they aren't currently looking for any other suspects.
On Friday, March 31, LPD said officers responded to a home for a report of gunshots.
An investigation showed that McCree and Brave had an interaction over a bag that the victim was holding, according to police. The details of the interaction are unknown at this time.
LPD said that this was when McCree fired multiple rounds with a handgun, hitting Brave several times.
Brave was driven to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries.
This is an ongoing investigation.
