Fairbury's Sipek signs with Peru State for softball

FAIRBURY, NE — A Fairbury softball player is sticking in southeast Nebraska to continue her career into college. 

Casidy Sipek signed with Peru State on Thursday morning with family, friends and coaches present at Fairbury High School. 

The Fairbury senior led the team in several categories this past season. Sipek posted a .447 batting average, had 33 RBI, scored 25 runs and hit eight home runs in her senior campaign. On defense, she had a fielding percentage of .981. 

Seeing plenty of game action from her sophomore through senior seasons, Sipek posted a career batting average of .374 while collecting 86 RBI, 58 runs and 21 home runs.

In three seasons, Sipek committed just six errors defensively, posting a field percentage of .977.

In her Fairbury career, Sipek was a member of the 2019 team that claimed the Class C state softball championship and contributed on the 2020 team her sophomore season, which made a return trip to the state tournament.
