DE WITT - Another southeast Nebraska team will represent the area at state.

Tri County boys basketball won the battle of the Trojans in the Class C-2 district finals with a 60-47 win over Wakefield on Tuesday night. In a completely packed gym at Tri County High School, the Trojans got out to an early 16-12 lead to end the first quarter with all 12 points coming in the paint, including six from Carter Siems and six from Chris Janssen. Tri County led at half 26-23 with, again, all points coming down low outside of a three pointer from freshman Drew Siems (the only three the Trojans would knock down all game) and a few free throws.

Tri County pushed the lead to seven out of the gates in the second half, but a green-light game plan kept Wakefield in the game where they'd knock down several threes to stay in it. Wakefield shot 8/29 from three in the game.

Tri County forced three straight turnovers in the first few Wakefield possessions in the fourth, pushing their lead to 10 before securing a 60-47 district final win.
