BEATRICE – Gage County officials have approved two agreements with the State of Nebraska’s Bridge Match program, which offers state help to cover 55% of a project, up to a maximum of $200,000.

The two projects involve replacing bridges west of Beatrice with two concrete box culverts. County Highway Superintendent Mark Kuhnke says one project is on a county road…the other on a township road.

"One's on Southwest 61st roughly a half-mile north of Belvedere. The other one is on Southwest 75th roughly a half mile north of Scott."

The engineering estimate for the project on Southwest 61st is $475,000….while the project on Southwest 75th, is estimated at $381,000.
Kuhnke says Saline County is coordinating this latest bridge match round in southeast Nebraska. The program allows counties to jointly apply for funding to accomplish needed projects and bid the projects as a package.

Kuhnke says engineering work for the two projects in Gage County is nearing completion.
