BEATRICE – One person was taken to a local hospital from a two-vehicle collision next to the Beatrice Municipal Airport, Friday night.

The person, a passenger in a car, was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The car, carrying three people, slammed into the back of a pickup on one of the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 77.

Beatrice Police Sergeant Wes Henning says the pickup had pulled onto the highway from Stockman Street on the east side of the four-lane, to travel south. Henning says the southbound car was changing lanes and struck the rear of the slower-moving pickup, in the passing lane.  No one in the truck was injured.

Beatrice Fire and Rescue responded to the scene with a fire engine and two ambulance units.   The accident happened at around 6:45 p.m. The scene was cleared after about 45 minutes.
