HEBRON, NE — After three days away from campus due to a received threat, students at a southeast Nebraska school district will be back in class tomorrow.

Thayer Central Community Schools announced Wednesday afternoon it will reopen Thursday as an investigation into the threat by the Nebraska State Patrol and Thayer County Sheriff's Office winds up.

According to the school district, the source of the threat was determined to be from out of the state, not credible and in no way affiliated with Thayer Central Community Schools.

The investigation also concluded there is no direct threat to the district.

Authorities will have a presence on Thayer Central's campus while the investigation wraps up.

"Please understand as this investigation draws to its conclusion, we want to thank everyone involved for their efforts in keeping our school and communities safe," school administrators said in a statement.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, a threat of the school shooting against Thayer Central was made via social media on Friday.

The state patrol's Tech Crimes Unit investigated the posts and identified a suspect, who NSP officials say is located in New Mexico. Local authorities are now working with New Mexico authorities on the case.

The Nebraska State Patrol say they and the Thayer County Sheriff have been in constant communication with Thayer Central officials and there is no threat to the school.
