Main Street Beatrice hosting sweet event, this Saturday

BEATRICE – If you have a thing, for chocolate…..this Saturday is your day.

Main Street Beatrice is putting on their annual Chocolate Lover’s Shopping Day Extravaganza, with 30 businesses participating in the downtown area.
Main Street Executive Director Michael Sothan says in this 13th year for the event, registration begins at 10 a.m. at The Vintage Venue….corner of Seventh and Court.

"They get to do some sampling of different chocolates at the different participating businesses that are chocolate stops. There are essentially thirty locations, if you count registrations this year. What the event really turns out to be is more of an opportunity to have fun, explore our community, explore our businesses, and hopefully do a little shopping."

Registration is limited to the first 200 people....age 21 or over…kids can still come along with the parents. Main Street Marketing Coordinator Morgan Fox says there’s no charge to register.

"You come in, you get your punch card and go to all these different stops to get your card punched. You don't have to buy anything, but we absolutely encourage you to take a minute, look around, see what each stop has to offer...because you never know what treasures you're going to find in your own downtown."

There’s a registration cut-off to make sure businesses have enough chocolate items for everyone participating. Sothan says when you register you get a map of the various participating locations.  "It should be a great time. Your punch card tells you where to go...and if you get to all thirty stops, you get entered into the grand prize and we've got a couple of different grand prize baskets we're in the middle of putting together...lots of gift cards and other things that are going to be included in that."

Three p.m. is the cut-off time for visiting the participating businesses…making for a six-hour stretch of visiting the 30 locations. Main Street Beatrice urges people to enjoy the day and stop at each business.
