Despite challenges, trending the right way, toward 2023
Finances, inflation and health.....all concerns during 2022

BEATRICE – The remnants of the coronavirus pandemic, stock market volatility and inflation all were challenges this past year for people…..Beatrice included.
Mayor Bob Morgan says residents most likely see the difficulty up close in the most obvious way when they go to the grocery store.
"That's a really telling place where inflation hits a lot of people. But, I think through it all, our business and our industry and our families have been resilient. I think they really try to do what they can do, to get through where we're headed."
Morgan says his hope is when the calendar changes to 2023…..high inflation will continue to tail off and allow families, businesses and industry to set budgets they can survive with.
"One thing about it is, with expenses, you only have so much money coming in and you can only spend so much going out. Hopefully, we'll turn the corner in 2023, but I do think the community has been very resilient. I think it's been hard work from the cities, the constituents, its the businesses, it's industry...and then it's...you look at Main Street, Beatrice Area Chamber of Commerce and NGage....they're all working really, really hard to make sure that we are successful."
Morgan says the cost of living in Beatrice is less than in many other areas…and that’s a bright spot going into a new year. Morgan says the more people can purchase things and support their local businesses, the more benefit there will be for the community.
At a local government level, Morgan says he and city council members will work toward setting some goals early in 2023. He says he’s excited to see what ideas are generated, mindful of what can be done is largely dependent on what ideas the city can afford.
