JEFFERSON COUNTY, NE — Two people were taken to a hospital Wednesday after a crash late in the morning that involved a pair of semi trucks.

Authorities say the crash happened on Highway 15 at the intersection with 725th Road, just north of the Highway 15 and Highway 4 junctions at about 10:15 a.m.

Police say 56-year-old Julio Montejo of Houston was heading south on the Highway in a 1999 Kenworth semi truck. The other driver involved, 52-year-old David Wesley of Onaga, Kan., was heading north in a 2003 Peterbilt semi.

The authorities' initial investigation concluded Montejo tried to turn east onto 725th Road and failed to yield to the other truck and the two collided head-on.

Both were transported to Jefferson Community Health and Life with non-life threatening injuries.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Jefferson County Rescue, Daykin Fire and Rescue, Jefferson County Ambulance and Jefferson County Emergency Management all responded to the scene.
