FAIRBURY - The Fairbury Elks Lodge 1203 was awarded $8,000 in grants from the Elks National Foundation to be used in Fairbury. The money was part of three grants approved by the Elks National Foundation.

The Beacon Grant will be used to donate to Fairbury's Back Pack Program, the Fairbury Food Foundation, and a Say No To Drugs program for eight local schools in the Fairbury area.

The Gratitude Grant  will help feed local families in need this holiday season.   Like last year the Elks Lodge will distribute fifty food baskets to local needy families before Thanksgiving and will also donate $2,000 to the Blue Valley Community Action Food Pantry.

The Nebraska Elks Drug Awareness Program helped pay to get Ray Lozano, a national speaker to Nebraska for his Say No To Drugs program from Nov. 7-9.

Over the life of the Lodge the Fairbury Elks has donated $3.6 million dollars to the Fairbury area.
