BEATRICE – Beatrice Police have arrested a 39-year-old suspect for felony shoplifting, after taking a ten pack of 50-milliliter Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey bottles from an east Beatrice business.

Saturday night at about 8:30, police were sent to a Casey’s General Store on a report of a man who had entered the store and allegedly shoplifted the alcohol, leaving the business as a passenger in a white pickup.

After speaking with witnesses, police received information about the man’s identity and the license plate number of the truck.   Officers later contacted Christopher Haynes at a residence in the nine hundred block of Herbert Street.

Police said the man told them he had gone into the store’s cooler to look for a cold pack of 50 milliliter Fireball bottles…didn’t’ find any… then had taken a warm ten-pack...saying he had forgotten his money.   A witness said the suspect walked out with the package behind his back, and under his shirt.

Haynes was arrested for third-offense shoplifting….a class 4 felony.   A criminal history record showed Haynes had prior shoplifting convictions from March of 2016, May of 2018 and May of 2020.
