BEATRICE – After observing a vehicle run through a stop sign early Sunday morning, a traffic stop of the driver ended up resulting in a drug arrest.

A Beatrice officer patrolling at around 1:12 a.m. observed a car drive through a stop sign at 9th and Ella, at about 15-to-20 miles-per-hour.  When the officer stopped the driver in the eight-hundred block of Elk Street, the officer noticed a metal pipe with burn residue in the center area between the driver and passenger seat.

Police said the driver allegedly handed over a bag of marijuana and a pipe and a search of the car turned up a baggie with suspected methamphetamine, a digital scale, a marijuana grinder and a case containing THC concentrate residue.

Police said the driver allegedly resisted while being taken into custody.  Police said the suspect began yelling profanities and resulted in a neighbor calling Southeast Communications to report a man yelling and screaming in the street.

38-year-old Gregory Louis was arrested for drug possession, drug paraphernalia, disturbing the peace, obstructing an officer and a stop sign violation.

County and city law officers served search warrants at rural and city addresses Friday, arresting one person and citing another.

At around 6 a.m. Friday, Gage County Sheriff’s Officers and Beatrice Police served two search warrants for suspected drug distribution and potential illegal possession of firearms.   One of the warrants was executed at a home along Southwest 18th Road, about two miles southeast of Odell.

Officers located marijuana pipes, suspected methamphetamine residue on a short straw and THC wax.  Weapons located in the house were determined to be air soft guns.

Authorities arrested 57-year-old Tammy Wicklander on suspicion of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and of maintaining a drug house.  A 65-year-old man was cited for drug and drug paraphernalia possession.  Law officers say a 15-year-old youth was living in the home.

Beatrice Police also searched a home in Beatrice in the 400-block of North 13th, locating a digital scale, marijuana residue and check books that had been reported stolen on October 5th.   Investigation continues related to both warrants.
