BEATRICE – Farmers Market season in Beatrice is near the end for Main Street Beatrice. The market will hold its final Thursday event of the season, next week, from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Tara Dunker of the University of Nebraska Cooperative Extension, who helps out with the market…says that will finish up the 22-week season that started back in May.

"We try to do a little bit of a headcount each time, and for the most part we see an average of about two hundred people visit the market each week to buy different goods. We have all sorts of products. We have a couple of vendors who do local honey products which is really nice. You don't always get that at every farmers market you go to. And, then of course we have seasonal produce of all kinds all throughout the season. Some of the vendors kind of trail off just because they come around during sweet corn time, but don't do as many of the pumpkins, gourds and things. We also have locally roasted coffee here and all sorts of baked goods and handmade goods. This year, we have CBD products...which hasn't been here in the past....just a great variety of local products."

Dunker says the Centenary United Methodist Church has been gracious in allowing Main Street to use the parking area of the church at Sixth and Grant for the market, which works out very well for ease of access, parking space and the vendors that sell each year.

"They really appreciate this new location, not only for the visibility here along Sixth Street, but also because the parking lot here is really accessible to all people. In the past, the parking lot we were at was a little more uneven and so it was a little bit harder for some of the people who may have mobility issues. Now, if somebody can navigate the flat parking lot they can access the farmer's market."

After next Thursday’s final event….the Main Street Beatrice Farmer’s Market plans to return next May…..same day and time period at the same location.
