BEATRICE – The Kansas Highway Patrol reports two fatal accidents it investigated last week in northeast Kansas.

One occurred Wednesday night in Pottawatomie County.  A 2013 Nissan Pathfinder was traveling west on Elm Slough Road when the driver lost consciousness and went off the road to the left.

Killed in the collision was the driver, 42-year-old Stefanie Turner, of Wamego, Kansas. An 11-year-old child apparently was unhurt. Both occupants were wearing safety restraints.

A fatal accident late Thursday morning happened two miles north of Netawaka, in Jackson County, Kansas.   The highway patrol says a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by 58-year-old Ronnie Wewenis, of Horton, Kansas was northbound on U.S. Highway 75, passing other traffic.

The KHP says the motorcycle went out of control and into the west ditch, ejecting the rider.  Wewenis died at the scene. Authorities say he was not wearing a helmet.
