Seward man killed in southeast Nebraska crash

One person was killed and another is battling life-threatening injuries after a crash in southeast Nebraska.

YORK, Neb. - One person was killed and another is battling life-threatening injuries after a crash in southeast Nebraska.

The crash happened Friday morning just before 6:30 a.m. near the York/Seward County line on Highway 34.

Deputies said Friday that two pickups, including one driven by a teenager, collided in the westbound lane of Highway 34.

One of the drivers, 42-year-old Scott Sorensen of Seward, was pronounced dead at the scene. The juvenile driver of the other truck was hospitalized in Lincoln with life-threatening injuries.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Assistance was provided by the Seward County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol, York Fire and Rescue,  Utica Fire and Rescue and Waco Fire and Rescue. 

The York County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the crash.
