Doane's women's soccer draws with Presentation

The Doane Tigers and the Presentation Saints play to a 1-1 draw.

CRETE, Neb. -- The Doane women's soccer team hosted Presentation in Crete on Thursday. The Tigers started the game strong at the six-minute mark, when Abbie Hedgecock scored on a free kick.

The Tigers held onto their lead lead until the 49th minute when the Saints' Amy Turner scored, tying the game 1-1.

Turner later had another chance to score and give Presentation the lead. She had a one-on-one opportunity against Doane goalkeeper Grayce Southern, with Southern making a diving deflection to keep the game tied.

Southern racked up five saves while Presentation's Marisol Vargas picked up 11. 

The Tigers are now 4-2-1, while Presentation is 4-0-1.

Next for Doane will be a home contest against Jamestown on Saturday, September 24, at 1 PM in Crete.
