BEATRICE – The sheriff’s office in Gage County will be getting an upgrade for its patrol fleet.

The county supervisors Wednesday gave their intent to support purchasing three 2022 Ford Police Interceptor vehicles…S-U-V’s similar to others Sheriff Millard Gustafson’s department has been using.  He said waiting to purchase 2023 units would add expense.

The vehicles were located in Florida, and Gustafson says they will each cost some $38,000.  There will be extra costs to outfit them with the necessary equipment.

The county is budgeting about $125,000 toward the purchase of the patrol units this coming year.  The purchase is being made under a state law that allows bypassing traditional bid procedures if the savings is significant to the governmental agency.
