Fairbury street to close Wednesday for electric line upgrades

FAIRBURY, NE — A stretch of road in downtown Fairbury will be closed off Wednesday for electric line upgrades. 

According to City Administrator Jacob Matthews, the city will close 6th Street from C through F Streets Wednesday, Aug. 24, from 5:30-9 p.m. During that time, the Fairbury Line Department will be working on making upgrades to the grid. 

In a release, Matthews calls the upgrades critical and says they will strengthen the town's system and prevent future power outages.
