Thayer County Fair wrapping up with racing, Randy Houser concert
It’s a big weekend on tap at the Thayer County Fair in southeast Nebraska.

It’s a big weekend on tap at the Thayer County Fair in southeast Nebraska.
Fair Board President AJ Gausman says the fair has been a success so far with 4-H activities going on all week long.
"It's been good," Gausman said. "We have a high number of animals being shown this year for 4-H, which is awesome to see. It's been pretty full and a good turn out for everybody. I'm glad 4-H is doing well.z'
Larger events got underway Wednesday with the Parade and Carnival. Thursday featured mutton busting and steer riding.
Friday and Saturday nights, the focus will be on the Thayer County Speedway. The weekend starts with dirt track races featuring multiple classes of cars. Hot laps start Friday at 7:30 p.m.
"[Friday] is kind of unique," Gausman said. "We don't have these classes very often. We have the Super Late Models, Midwest Stock Cars and then some IMCA Mod Lites running. It's different than what we normally run, but it's a pretty cool show. Big cars. Big tires. They throw a lot of mud."
Then Saturday, the fair closes out with a concert featuring country artists Randy Houser and Parmalee who have combined for six Number 1 hits on the Billboard Country charts.
"It's awesome," Gausman said. "Just having people like that, it almost ensures that we should have a decent crowd show up. That's what we're trying to do. Just put on a good show for the community, the public, the county and surrounding areas. Hopefully everybody has a good time."
Nebraska country artist DJ Bridwell will also perform Saturday night. Advance tickets are available at the Midwest Bank in Deshler and online at outhousetickets.com.
