Orangemen football talks impact of Cam Jurgens on program

BEATRICE - Former Husker, now Philadelphia Eagle Cam Jurgens is gearing up for his first NFL season, but before the NFL or even the Huskers, he was a Beatrice Orangemen.
At Pinnacle Bank Media Days earlier this week, the Orangemen were asked about Jurgens’ impact on the program. Second year head coach Jeff Kezeor says that impact has come in a number of ways.
“Cam’s been a great example. Not only did he have success, but he had the success people can root for,” Kezeor said. “He was back this summer after getting drafted, he went out to Philly for some mini camp’s, but he came back to Beatrice to spend some time with his family and he also worked out in our weight room. We look up to success, but also the way he’s done it, it’s been a good way for these kids to model and look up to that work ethic and leadership.”
For senior’s Tucker Timmerman and Luke Feist, they look up to him for his athletic ability, saying he was someone they’d model their work ethic after.
“Growing up, you see him being a three sport athlete, you’d see him and just say ‘Wow he’s really big I want to be like him some day’,” Timmerman said.
“You’d walk into practice and see hoop broken from him dunking in practice,” Feist said.
Jurgens’ first NFL game is a preseason contest on August 12th at 6:30 against the New York Jets.
