Vandalism at JCPenney store, 20k in damage
The Lincoln Police Department is investigating a reported vandalism at a store that damaged clothes for around $20,000.
LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Lincoln Police Department is investigating a reported vandalism at a store that damaged clothes for around $20,000.
LPD said police were dispatched to JCPenney, 6100 O Street, for a reported vandalism. They talked to an employee who reported that the incident happened the previous evening between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Officers said the employee told them that during that time, an unknown person(s) went to the second floor, grabbed a fire extinguisher, and used it throughout the clothing section. The fire extinguisher was left on the floor and the person(s) left.
According to authorities, the staff reportedly said the contents of the fire extinguisher is considered a skin irritant so they have to destroy all the clothing that was affected. The damage is estimated at $20,000.
