BEATRICE - A collision late Tuesday afternoon near the Gage County Courthouse in Beatrice, caused traffic to be redirected, but apparently there were no serious injuries.

The collision between a compact car and a sport utility vehicle at 6th and Lincoln, sent police and Beatrice Fire and Rescue personnel to the scene at 4:15 p.m.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the collision, nor how many persons were in each vehicle.   Northbound traffic was able to continue using the outside lane of the four-lane highway while the accident was investigated and vehicles were cleared from the scene.

Southbound traffic was redirected west, to Fifth Street.   The accident blocked east and west traffic at the intersection for about an hour.

One ambulance and one fire truck responded to the scene.   Dispatch traffic indicated that no one had to be transported for medical treatment.
