BEATRICE - Rescue personnel and Gage County law officers were called to an accident last Thursday, south of Wymore where a car was on its passenger side in the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 77.

Wymore Fire and Rescue and deputies went to U.S. Highway 77 and Spruce Road, about three miles south of Wymore, at around six p.m.

Authorities say a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by 19-year-old Emma Breland, of Beatrice….was traveling north behind a farm tractor pulling a hay rake.   The tractor, operated by 20-year-old Lauren Trauernicht of Wymore, began turning west onto Spruce Road as Breland had begun an attempt to pass the tractor.

Law officers say Breland attempted to steer away from the tractor but collided with the hay rake.  Her vehicle rolled at least once.   She was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital by Wymore Rescue, for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The highway was closed while the vehicle was removed from the roadway.  The accident remains under investigation for possible citations.
