BEATRICE - It’s one of the hottest stretches of days all summer in southeast Nebraska and residents of the region are finding ways to cool off, at places such as the Beatrice Pool.

Donna Arena is the director for the pool and she’s seen things pick up as the heat has intensified.

“It’s a place to cool off with some friends, get a good snack, when it’s hot like this, it’s a fun place to be,” Arena said.

The forecast calls for mid-upper 90’s all week for the entire southeast Nebraska area as well as the entire state. With pools around the area all being busy, Arena said the pool is getting busier, even welcoming those from out of town.

“Yes we are [getting busier], and we’re seeing people from other places,” Arena said. “It’s not just been people from here, so, yes, we’re having a way busier week this week.”

Arena said she’s seen pool goers from from Lincoln, Omaha, Fairbury, Marysville, KS. and a few from other states as well.

During the summer in Beatrice, residents frequent the pool, making it a summer staple for the city. Arena says that’s amplified, when the temperatures heat up.

“We love it,” Arena said. “We love seeing the families and the kids that are here a lot, and you get that bond, it’s just a place for everybody to be.”

The pool is open from 12 PM-7 PM, weather permitting. Admission is $5 for kids, $6 for adults and $2 for all after 5 pm.
