BEATRICE – A district judge has lowered bond for a man charged with first-degree sexual assault of a vulnerable person, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a vulnerable adult.

Bond for 31-year-old Allen Evans was reduced Thursday, from $500,000, to $350,000 by Gage County District Judge Rick Schreiner.

Evans is charged following an incident last October at the Beatrice State Developmental Center, where Evans was employed as a supervisor.  A Nebraska State Patrol investigation began after an employee was told by a resident of the center of a sexual assault.

The alleged victim was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital and then transferred to Bryan Health West, in Lincoln.   After a sexual assault examination, collection of DNA evidence and analysis of that evidence, Evans was arrested on April 26th by two Nebraska State Patrol investigators.

Evans has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and a pretrial hearing is scheduled for July 27th in Gage County District Court.
