Bond reduced for former BSDC supervisor, on sexual assault charges

BEATRICE – A district judge has lowered bond for a man charged with first-degree sexual assault of a vulnerable person, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a vulnerable adult.

Bond for 31-year-old Allen Evans was reduced Thursday, from $500,000, to $350,000 by Gage County District Judge Rick Schreiner.

Evans is charged following an incident last October at the Beatrice State Developmental Center, where Evans was employed as a supervisor.  A Nebraska State Patrol investigation began after an employee was told by a resident of the center of a sexual assault. 

The alleged victim was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital and then transferred to Bryan Health West, in Lincoln.   After a sexual assault examination, collection of DNA evidence and analysis of that evidence, Evans was arrested on April 26^th by two Nebraska State Patrol investigators. 

Evans has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and a pretrial hearing is scheduled for July 27^th in Gage County District Court.
