Two golfers lock down U.S. Amateur qualifying spots

Elkhorn's Luke Gutchewski finishes 36 holes at eleven-under par

BEATRICE – Golfers from Elkhorn and Omaha captured the two local qualifying spots at Beatrice Country Club, for the 122nd U.S. Amateur Golf Championship.

Luke Gutchewski followed a first round eight-under-par 64 with a three-under, 69…..to finish on top at 133……eleven-under.

Charlie Zielinski, of Omaha locked down the second qualifying spot with rounds of 68 and 70…finishing at six-under par 138.

The two alternates at the local qualifier were Norfolk’s Luke Kluver….who followed a first-round 73 with a five-under par 67….for a four-under 140…….and Caleb Badura of Aurora, who shot two rounds at 70 to also finish at four-under par.

Seventy-three golfers were competing for the two qualifying positions and two alternate spots.
